Bormio, one of the most renowned wintersports resorts in Italy, is situated close to Switzerland at the foot of the Stilfserjochs. The over 2000 year old health resort is situated at a basin valley between the majestic mountains of the Ortler group. Bormio is particularly well-known as the venue for the alpine ski world championship in 1985 and 2005.

In addition, the world cup race at the famous “Stelvio” descent takes place here between Christmas and New Year. Not only experts will get their money’s worth in Bormio, all abilities are sure to enjoy the skiing, due to the broad slopes above the treeline. Bormio is loved for its excellent skiing possibilities, great entertainment opportunities and world leading spa facilities. The Combo-ski-pass with St. Caterina offers a whole new world of skiing options for the whole family. Thanks to its great snow conditions and superb slopes this ski area hosts regular World Cup ski races and was promoter of the world ski championship 1985 and 2005. With over 105 km of slopes for all levels and up to 12 km long runs with 1787mt difference in altitude (ski area with the highest altitude difference in Italy – 3012 m to 1225 m), this excellent ski area is one of Europe’s winter highlights.

While the „Stelvo“ run (4km long) is known to be the best of its kind, the „Bemba al sole“ (6km) is perfect for a comfortable descent with breath taking panoramic views. The „Valbella“ and „Betulle“ slopes have a good reputation and demand a high standard of the skiers. Beginners will find excellent slopes near to the village. The 25 km of closed cross-country trails give further possibilities to enjoy the scenery.

The 18 modern ski lifts that were partially built for the Ski World Cup in 2004/05 can transport over 25000 passengers per hour. Therefore skiers experience very short waiting times between the rides.

Bormio is also famous for it´s night skiing on the slopes “Genziana” and “Stelvio”, decenting from the Bormio 2000 lift station. The town lies in the middle of the Stifles Joch National Park, surrounded by breath-taking alpine scenery. It was made famous in 1985 when the World Cup Ski Championships and many World Cup ski races were held here.

Over the centuries Bormio has managed to maintain its traditions and character. The picturesque pedestrian centre, scattered with old churches and museums, invites its visitors to admire artistic, architectonics and historical corners and the heritage leftover. The houses mostly date back to the 15th and 16th century. The historic Piazza Cavour and Via Roma, formerly a essential part of the trading route between Venice and Switzerland, preserve the medieval flair of the town and are the hub of civic life.

Moreover, Bormio has always been famous for its thermal waters and baths. Bormio Terme features a wellness area with indoor and outdoor pools (also suitable for children), a thermarium area with Turkish bath and sauna, a beauty and massage salon and a thermal treatments area with an NHS agreement. The thermal baths Bagni Nuovi e Vecchi are near Bormio and are composed of 6 areas characterized by many paths and different temperatures.

Bormio offers its visitors various entertainment possibilities: Elegant shops, pizzerias and restaurants are spread throughout the city and give visitors a taste of local products and food. Especially on the Piazza Cavour, where locals and tourists enjoy an aperitif together.

The nights are usually spent in one of many local bars or in the large disco, offering drinks and good mood guarantee. The lively pubs are always very welcoming to visitors and offer a great opportunity let the day end.

Bormio offers the kids a toy park including a kindergarten. Qualified staff will play with the little ones from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for parents to enjoy a day on the more difficult slopes, while the child is having a good time with new friends, a lot of games and learning the basics of winter sport.

The Gomati Park is situated at the starting point of the cableway Bormio-Bormio 2000. It’s the right place for your kids to go sledding or to start off with their first skiing experiences.

The Ski School Nazionale Bormio offers more fun: In the breaks the kids get to ride the “Gormiti” sledges and play games on the snow, next to the “Volcano” and “Salta Salta”.

Situated on the “Stella Alpina” slope, Bormio´s snow park is easily accessible by the Bormio 2000 chair lift. Next to the 600 m park, equipped with kickers and rails, you can listen to music and while watching the maintenance crew build new jumps on a daily basis.
